VERO BEACH, Fla. (March 29, 2019) – On Friday, May 17, Florida’s Coast to Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross will host its annual Hangar Party in the Corporate Air Hangar of the Vero Beach Airport. This is a free family event for the community to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season, which begins in June.
For the Hangar Party, the Corporate Air Hangar will be lined with tables and booths from local exhibitors providing resources and information on preparedness, such as hurricane proof windows and doors, shutters, storage units, contractors and weather.
The Red Cross will have demonstrations on hands-only CPR, smoke alarm installations and pet first aid, and information on evacuation shelters, family preparedness and Service to the Armed Forces. There will be a Kids’ Zone, games and live music from Collins & Company. A silent auction will offer items such as a portrait package from Bradford Studios, golf rounds at local private courses and much more. This event raises funds for Red Cross services in the local community. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
“We really try to make it a fun, interactive event where the whole family can come out, have fun and learn something new,” says Sarah Ruwe, executive director of the chapter. “Our goal is to educate people but also bring the community together. When hurricane season starts on June 1, we want everyone to be prepared.”
