NAPLES, Fla. (November 12, 2018) – The American Red Cross Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter held its annual Holiday for Heroes Stocking Event at the Arthrex Headquarters in Naples, Fla., where more than 1,000 holiday stockings were assembled for troops.  

Red Cross Volunteers and Staff along with Arthrex employees gathered to place the donated items in handmade holiday stockings along with encouraging holiday cards provided by the community.

Approximately 1,040 stockings will be mailed by Arthrex to soldiers who are serving overseas during the holidays.

“Thanks to the amazing work of our friends at Arthrex and our Red Cross volunteers and staff, we’re able to send a record-breaking number of holiday stockings to our troops,” said Jill Palmer, executive director of Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter. “Holiday for Heroes was a success and I’m grateful for our community to come together and do something special for our service members and veterans.”

Holiday for Heroes is an annual campaign by the American Red Cross which allows the community the opportunity to thank and recognize military members during the holidays. This year, Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter partnered once again with Arthrex Inc., a global medical device company, to assist in assembling and delivering these stuffed holiday stockings.

Prior to the stocking event, Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter held two Holiday Stocking Cut and Sew Events in Naples to support the Red Cross’ Holiday for Heroes Campaign. For the last 10 years, Red Cross Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter volunteers have been making these hand-made holiday stockings for military members. Learn more about its history.
