NAPLES (March 21, 2019) – The American Red Cross Southern Gulf Chapter unveiled its new Next Generation Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) on Wednesday, March 20 at the “Celebration of Support” event for local donors.
Many Red Cross board members and community supporters gathered at the Clive Daniel Home Showroom in Naples, Fla. for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting of the new ERV and to honor the local donors from the 2018 Centennial Celebration & Gala who funded the vehicle along with two Chevy Traverses.
“We are grateful to have the support of the community, especially the generosity of donors from our Centennial Celebration & Gala for funding the need for this vital new emergency response vehicle,” said Jill Palmer, Executive Director of the Southern Gulf Chapter. “Our volunteers can travel in this vehicle and provide much needed comfort and hope to many families impacted by disasters.”
The Chapter held its Centennial Celebration & Gala on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Fla. to celebrate 100 years of service in the community. The Gala surpassed its fundraising goal, thanks to the support of donors, and enabled the chapter to purchase three new vehicles for local disaster relief.
“The Red Cross is one of the most important organizations in both our local and global communities, providing disaster relief, shelter, food and comfort at the most perilous times in our lives,” said Elizabeth Star, Chair of the 2018 Centennial Gala.
The three vehicles will be utilized by the Red Cross to respond to local disasters, ranging from home fires to hurricanes near and far, and provide aid to families in need. The Chapter currently serves nearly 1 million residents in Collier, Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties.
