WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 27, 2020) – The American Red Cross has received a generous gift of $250,000 from Hard Rock International designated to support response efforts during the coronavirus outbreak. The donation will help the Red Cross continue to deliver its lifesaving mission worldwide due to this public health emergency.
For 15 years Hard Rock International has been a longstanding partner of the Red Cross, donating over $1 million dollars. From hurricanes to wildfires to earthquakes, Hard Rock International has been there to support the Red Cross during national episodic events through its Hard Rock Heals Foundation. Additionally, Hard Rock has partnered with Red Cross to support their Sound the Alarm initiative, a series of free smoke alarm installation events nationwide to help reduce home fire injuries and deaths.
The generous contribution by Hard Rock International will be used to ensure that the American Red Cross can maintain a sufficient blood supply to help patients in need and continue to provide critical relief services to people affected by disasters big and small during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“The Red Cross is proud to count Hard Rock International as a partner in making sure we can continue to deliver our lifesaving mission nationwide due to this public health emergency,” said Don Herring, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “Their gift helps ensure that the Red Cross can help patients in need of blood; and ensure that, due to the coronavirus outbreak, we are able to provide critical relief services to people affected by disasters big and small.”
Globally, this donation will also support Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to prevent and slow the transmission of COVID-19 and help communities already affected by the outbreak maintain access to basic social services and help reduce the economic, social and psychological impact on people. This will include services such as pre-hospital and medical services, community health and care, risk communication and community engagement, mental health and psychosocial support, ongoing support for health care and supporting livelihoods at the community level.
“As a global leader in hospitality and entertainment, we are so grateful for our partnership with the American Red Cross and to provide relief to the most vulnerable communities around the world, especially during these unprecedented times,” said Jon Lucas, Chief Operating Officer, Hard Rock International. “This gift allows the Red Cross to amplify their mission and it helps us fulfill Hard Rock’s core values in the communities we operate in: Take Time to Be Kind, Love All Serve All and All is One.”
Generous donations from the community and corporate partners enable the American Red Cross to prepare communities for disasters big and small, respond whenever and wherever disasters occur and help families during the recovery process.
