WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 27, 2018) – The American Red Cross South Florida Region has announced the promotion of Charles Parker to Regional Disaster Officer and Heidi O’Sheehan to Regional Director of Service to the Armed Forces.
Parker brings a wealth of experience with the American Red Cross to his role as Regional Disaster Officer. Originally from Indiana, Chuck has lived in Florida for over 20 years, currently making his home in Highlands County. He spent many years as a director of operations and general manager for several printing operations, including 13 years for Gannett Co. and four years for The Flyer in Miami. He first joined the Red Cross in 2008 as a board member and disaster volunteer, and became a staff member in August 2011 as the Disaster Specialist in Okeechobee. He has also served as Disaster Program Manager, Regional Mass Care Manager and most recently Regional Senior Disaster Program Manager for South Florida.
O’Sheehan brings an impressive military and leadership background as the Director of Service to the Armed Forces. She joined the South Florida Region in May as the SAF Specialist with a true passion for helping military members, veterans and their families. She is a retired Army Officer with 21 years of combined service split between active duty and the Ohio and Florida Army National Guards. Her service highlights include attending U.S. Army Airborne School, serving as the officer in charge of the South Area Command Emergency Operations Center immediately following 9/11, performing humanitarian operations in the wake of six major disasters and serving as a Company Commander for a one-year deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Heidi retired from the military in 2005.
“We are delighted to have Chuck and Heidi part of our Regional Leadership Team said Joanne Nowlin, Regional CEO of the South Florida Region. “They both provide valuable skills and experience to our organization and we are excited to welcome them in their new roles.”
