January 30, 2023 – Following the multi-unit fire in Miami Gardens that occurred this past Saturday, the South Florida Red Cross continues to provide support to those impacted by the blaze.
The South Florida Red Cross has opened a temporary shelter located at the Betty T Recreational Center in Miami Gardens. Red Cross staff and volunteers are providing emergency aid such as food, clothing & health services. With the help of community partners, the Red Cross continues to work around the clock to assess the needs of those impacted, working with each individual family to address their specific needs.
Last night, more than 60 people sought refuge in the Red Cross shelter. Today, over 62 cases were opened and 10 cases with Red Cross Health Services.
“Our primary focus is to work with each individual resident to assess exactly what their needs are based off the incident,” said Ryan Logan, Regional Disaster Officer, South Florida Red Cross. “We will work with each of those families to make sure we meet those needs whether it is food, clothing, shelter, prescription medications, etc.”
Over 30 trained volunteers have raised their hands to come and support these families in their time of need.
