Southern Nevada volunteer Emma Empey gets ready to depart LAS to support the Hurricane Laura relief in Louisiana.
See what it’s like to deploy! Over the last few months, our awesome volunteers from across the Utah/Nevada region have deployed to the wildfires along the west coast, to Texas and Louisiana for Hurricanes Laura and Sally, and within Utah to assist people affected by the major windstorm in early September. We followed SNV volunteer Elizabeth Jascolt as she assisted people in Houston displaced by Hurricane Laura. Check out the short videos below of the people she met and assisted while being deployed!
Day 1: First deployment with ARC being paired with Charley, a volunteer from PA with 53 years’ experience
Day 2: Distributing dinner to evacuees with Adrian, a displaced Port Arthur resident
Day 3: Helping Angelica check into the shelter
Day 4: Picking up sanitation supplies for the shelter
Day 5: Cute canine shelter residents Looking back after returning home
Liza also reflected on her time deploying with the Red Cross when she returned to Las Vegas.
