Northern Nevada Chapter Board of Directors
The Boards of Directors with their combined diverse experiences are critical to assisting with strategic planning and fundraising to support the Chapters' humanitarian mission and services.
Sarah Stevenson
Sarah Stevenson joined the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada in 2023 and was named board chair in July 2026 after serving as vice chair. She has also served as a Disaster Action Team member in Elko County since 2022, providing support to people following home fires and other emergencies.
Outside of her work with the Red Cross, Sarah volunteers with Junior Achievement and the Elko County Chamber Ambassadors.
Sarah is assistant vice president and branch manager at Nevada State Bank in Spring Creek. A graduate of the Nevada State Bank Mentor Program, she also serves as a mentor and peer trainer, sharing her experience and knowledge with colleagues.
Sarah’s contributions through both her professional and volunteer roles reflect her dedication to serving her community.

Bruce Berwager
Bruce Berwager joined the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada in 2022 and served as board chair from 2024 to 2026. He remains a board member and now serves as co-chair of the Philanthropy Committee.
Bruce’s involvement with the Red Cross spans decades. He previously served on Red Cross boards in Pennsylvania and California, and has volunteered in water safety, Service to the Armed Forces, Disaster Cycle Services, the Disaster Action Team and a high school Red Cross Club. He has also deployed to major disaster relief operations across the country, providing support following hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and other disasters.
Before retiring in 2019, Bruce spent 40 years in the energy industry, holding engineering, management and executive positions with major energy companies and independent firms. His career took him to locations around the world, including Norway, Dubai, Indonesia, Thailand and Canada.
Bruce earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Penn State University and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Southern California.
