LAS VEGAS (Oct. 13, 2022) — The American Red Cross and Allied Sports have once again teamed up to help with disaster relief in their second annual Rescue Royale fundraising stream-a-thon and esports tournament. On October 15, the top 8 Halo players from the qualifier will compete live on the HyperX stage to determine who will be the Last Spartan Standing.
From September 1 – October 15, participants set up an online fundraiser to help provide food, shelter, and hope to disaster victims. The top fundraisers and the top players from the esports tournament won a trip to Las Vegas for the Rescue Royale Grand Finals at the HyperX Arena.
The inaugural philanthropic partnership last year between the Red Cross and the gaming community raised nearly $50,000, according to Rachel Flanigan, American Red Cross of Southern Nevada Executive Director.
“We asked gamers and content creators to use their enthusiasm and skill to help us provide support for those who have been impacted by disasters – large and small, both in Southern Nevada and across the country,” said Flanigan. “Their efforts also help us prepare communities for future emergencies as we have seen the frequency and intensity of the natural disasters increase.”
The Rescue Royale Disaster Relief event allows anyone to start their own fundraiser through the digital platform Tiltify. “The gaming and streaming communities have a unique and powerful ability to rally followers to deserving causes through live entertainment and creative content,” said Jud Hannigan, CEO of the global esports entertainment company Allied Esports. “We’re honored to continue to assist the Red Cross in growing support from the next generation of fundraisers.”
Donations made between September 1 and October 15 (including the stream-a-thon, tournament, and finale) will be used to support Hurricane Ian disaster relief, Flanigan said. “The Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters every year, from single family home fires to large scale emergencies that impact multiple states,” she said. “In the wake of disasters, donations help us provide food, shelter, supplies, emotional support, recovery planning, and financial assistance to those in need, as well as support the vehicles, warehouses, and people that power disaster relief.”
The Red Cross is grateful to our partners and sponsors who are contributing to Rescue Royale, including Skillz and Twitter.
