LAS VEGAS (May 3, 2022) — The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada and the Las Vegas Aviators® are asking local baseball fans to “step up to the plate” and donate blood Wednesday, May 11, at the Las Vegas Ballpark®. As a thank you to those who donate, the team will provide two tickets to that night’s Aviators vs. Salt Lake Bees game.*
“We lend our support to the Red Cross and local healthcare organizations as they continue to care for our community. I encourage fans who are healthy and able to donate, to please give blood,” said Don Logan, Las Vegas Aviators President and Chief Operating Officer.
The Red Cross mobile blood donation vehicle will be parked on Spruce Goose Street near the Centerfield Gates from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the drive by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device and using sponsor code Aviators.
The Las Vegas Aviators Blood Drive comes at an important time, with the Red Cross reporting the nation’s blood supply remains extremely vulnerable.
“Fans are invited to ‘roll up a sleeve’ and become part of a lifesaving team that helps ensure cancer patients, trauma victims, and others have blood products available for emergency and everyday medical care,” said Rachel Flanigan, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter.
In addition, anyone who donates blood on May 11 and before May 19 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of choice and automatically be entered to win a new travel trailer camper that sleeps eight, courtesy of Suburban Propane. Details are available at rcblood.org/camper.
To help ensure all patients have access to the blood products they count on, donors are urged to find a blood drive convenient to them and make an appointment by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
