LAS VEGAS (March 25, 2023) — The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada today announced the Caesars Foundation has donated $20,000 to support the international Red Cross relief effort for victims of last month’s devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
“This donation will go to help so many still affected by the largest earthquake in more than a century,” said Rachel Flanigan, American Red Cross of Southern Nevada Executive Director. “Their journey to recovery will be long and depends on this kind of support and generosity.”
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) are continuing to bring in assistance from around the world, including technical support. Also, about 60 National Societies are undertaking domestic fundraising campaigns on behalf of the two affected countries.
“One of our core values at Caesars Entertainment is giving back to our communities and our Team Members,” said Heather Rapp, Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Caesars Entertainment. “Seeing the great need after the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, we wanted to join the global effort to provide critical support.”
The American Red Cross is grateful for recent donations made to bolster the overall disaster response in Turkey and Syria. “A few American Red Cross disaster responders, specialists in communications and information management, had joined the relief effort and we continue to assess on going needs and coordinate with the global Red Cross,” Flanigan said.
The Caesars Foundation contributes millions of dollars to dozens of national and local non-profit organizations annually, including the Red Cross of Southern Nevada. The private foundation is funded by resorts owned or operated by Caesars Entertainment to help support charitable programs. “We are dedicated to supporting the communities in which Caesars Entertainment operates in hopes to improve the quality of life of our Team Members and their families, the community, and society at large,” Rapp said.
