LAS VEGAS (June 10, 2022) — The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada today announced it has received nearly $25,000 raised by Cox Communications employees in Las Vegas. The donation will be used to support the non-profit’s mission to help prevent, prepare, and respond to life-threatening emergencies in Southern Nevada.
“This donation will stay right here, allowing us to do more for residents when they need it most,” said Rachel Flanigan, American Red Cross of Southern Nevada Executive Director. “It will boost our efforts to offer services such as installing smoke alarms in homes, collecting lifesaving blood, supporting military families, and assisting disaster victims. It’s a generous gift that will help support the growing needs of our community.”
Cox Charities, the philanthropic arm of Cox Communications in Las Vegas, has awarded more than $2.5 million in grants to Southern Nevada non-profit organizations since 2007 and is funded primarily through employee contributions, according to Stephanie Stallworth, Director of Public and Community Relations for Cox Communications in Las Vegas. The money donated to the Southern Nevada Red Cross was raised by employees participating in a virtual 5K.
"We're humbled by the opportunity to support the American Red Cross in its vital work to help people affected by emergencies," Stallworth said. "Supporting Southern Nevada nonprofits that help our local communities is incredibly important to us, and we're proud to assist the Red Cross in its lifesaving mission."
