LAS VEGAS and RENO, Nev. (Aug. 15, 2022) — On National Nonprofit Day, Wednesday, Aug. 17, the American Red Cross of Nevada will join with other organizations to call attention to the vast positive impact nonprofits have on the communities they serve. Charitable organizations throughout Nevada and the country work every day to help those in need, often with limited help and little recognition. Nonprofits provide critical services and champion some of society’s most difficult issues.
“The Red Cross depends on volunteers who give their time, talent, and caring to help others,” said Heidi Ruster, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Utah/Nevada Region. “When disaster strikes a community or a single person, we are there.”
The Red Cross also partners with and depends on many other nonprofit organizations, Ruster said. “On National Nonprofit day, please join me in thanking the people who volunteer and work for charitable groups and make a lasting difference in our community – every day,” Ruster said. “Non-profit organizations enrich and improve all aspects of the quality of life of our community.”
Non-profit organizations support our community in so many ways like food pantries, new coats to those who would go without, college scholarships to students from underserved communities and many other ways. Every day, a child, a family, a senior citizen or a student benefit from the incredible work of nonprofits in our community.
“Nonprofits are the heart and soul of our community,” Ruster said.
About National Nonprofit Day
National Nonprofit Day was founded five years ago and celebrated on August 17, the same date the Tariff Act of 1894 was signed into law. The Act authorized the first federal income tax for corporations and exemptions for nonprofit corporations and charitable institutions.
