RENO, Nev. (Oct. 23, 2023) — The American Red Cross of Nevada today announced Tiandra Rushing has been named executive director of the Northern Nevada Chapter. In her new role, Rushing will oversee the delivery of Red Cross programs and services to more than 800,000 residents across 12 counties and Carson City.
Heidi Ruster, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Utah/Nevada Region, praised Rushing's appointment, “Tiandra's deep-rooted commitment to Northern Nevada, coupled with her extensive engagement with community leaders, business heads, emergency managers and elected officials, makes her the ideal fit for this position.”
Rushing, a fourth-generation Northern Nevadan residing in Fallon, has a rich background in philanthropy, public preparedness and the construction industry. She most recently served as the Public Health Preparedness Manager for the Central Nevada Health District. Rushing currently volunteers as the foundation chair for the Nevada Builders Alliance.
“My intimate knowledge of Northern Nevada and its people will guide my efforts to leverage our community's strengths and opportunities,” added Rushing. “My focus will be to ensure that everyone in Northern Nevada has access to invaluable Red Cross programs and assistance.”
In her capacity as executive director, Rushing will be responsible for coordinating with local community partners, elected officials and organizing fundraising efforts. She will also serve as the primary Red Cross spokesperson for media interviews in the Northern Nevada region. Moreover, she will play a pivotal role in engaging and mobilizing volunteers, which is crucial to the success of the Red Cross mission.

Rushing succeeds Mary Powell, who was recently appointed Red Cross National Disaster Fundraising Director. As executive director, she will be the community liaison for the Northern Nevada Chapter, which covers an area of over 65,000 square miles – larger than 27 states.
The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada, as part of the wider Utah/Nevada Region, is committed to providing emergency relief to residents impacted by disasters.
