Reno, NV (February 11, 2021) -- In need of a unique Valentines gift? Show how much you care by giving a loved-one a first aid or CPR class from the Red Cross. February is American Heart Month, so there is no better time to be prepared.
“It may not be the typical Valentines gift of flowers, candy or a ‘date-night,’ but taking one of our classes or giving them as a gift shows care and compassion,” said Mary Powell, executive director of the Northern Nevada Chapter. “Our classes are designed for various skill levels, guaranteed to give either the gift-giver or participant a feeling of satisfaction.”
Powell added that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the number of participants in classes conducted at the Northern Nevada chapter office in Reno may be limited.
CPR Class
A gift for the heart, from the heart
Taught by certified Red Cross instructors, CPR training is designed to fit your schedule and skill-level needed with classes available online and in person either at the Northern Nevada chapter office in Reno or with a licensed partner. Whatever learning method you choose, CPR training will give class participants the necessary skills designed to recognize signs of health distress and perform this life-saving procedure for both adults and children. Depending on the level of training selected, some CPR courses include both an online and in-person component.
FIRST AID Class
Nothing says love like a helping hand
Whether taking a first aid class for yourself, or giving a class as a gift, you’ll be helping those in need until medical professionals arrive on scene. Participants will learn first aid best practices for many conditions including: Asthma emergencies, Anaphylaxis, burns, choking, Diabetic emergencies, external bleeding, environmental emergencies, heart attack, poisoning, neck, head and spinal injuries, stroke and seizure. When receiving first aid, patients are given the best chance for a happy ending, and those administering first aid affect someone’s life for the better! First aid classes are provided both online and in person, depending on which level of training is selected.
All of our in-person, skills-based classes are following strict COVID protocols including social distancing, individual mannequins, face covering requirements, and limited class sizes. To learn more about classes, view the schedule, and to sign-up, visit www.redcross.org/nevada
