LAS VEGAS (Sept. 26, 2026) — A $10,000 grant from the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation will help the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada provide financial assistance to families forced from their homes by fires across the region.
Red Cross disaster workers respond to home fires across Southern Nevada, providing financial assistance that families can use for lodging, food, clothing and other immediate expenses. Volunteers also provide emotional support and connect families with additional community resources.
“When a home fire happens, our disaster workers can respond within hours to help families with immediate expenses and begin connecting them with additional resources,” said Rachel Flanigan, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter. “This grant from the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation will help us continue providing that assistance across Southern Nevada.”
In 2025, Red Cross of Southern Nevada volunteers responded to 265 home fires and assisted 1,218 people. Since 2020, Red Cross teams have responded to more than 1,850 home fires across Southern Nevada helping more than 8,100 people.
The Red Cross was among more than 45 organizations receiving grants from the Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson Silver Knights Foundations in 2026. Together, the two foundations awarded more than $500,000 through their annual grant program.
The Red Cross also received grants from the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation in 2024 and 2025.

Help After a Home Fire
Red Cross disaster workers are available around the clock to respond to home fires and other emergencies. Anyone who needs help after a home fire can call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Red Cross disaster assistance is provided at no cost.
Free Smoke Alarms and Home Fire Safety
The Red Cross also works with families before fires occur. Through the Sound the Alarm program, Southern Nevadans can request a free home fire safety visit. Volunteers may install free smoke alarms, provide fire safety information and help families create an escape plan.
