A copy of Coyle’s remarks follows:
“Thank you, Nasdaq, for hosting us today to ring the Nasdaq Stock Market Closing Bell.
“I am thrilled to be here alongside my Red Cross team from across our region to commemorate National Blood Donor Month.
“This January marks the 52nd anniversary of National Blood Donor Month.
“And it arrives as the nation’s blood supply has dipped to concerning levels and could force hospitals to delay essential blood and platelet transfusions.
“Blood donors of all blood types are needed now to give blood or platelets to help meet daily hospital demands.
“Did you know that one in seven patients entering a hospital will need a blood transfusion.?
“Blood transfusions are one of the most common hospital procedures in the U.S., yet only 3% of the public gives blood.
“Unlike other treatments, blood cannot be stockpiled or manufactured − it can only come from volunteer blood donors.
“The new year is a great time for people to donate for the first time, or to get back into giving if it’s been a while.
“I invite you to make a resolution to help save lives in 2023.
“Thank you to the many generous people across the nation who donate blood, platelets or plasma to help save lives across the country.
“Patients are counting on us each day, and we are grateful for your generosity.
