US Coast Guard Rear Admiral Zeita Merchant served as the host of the "Women Who Serve America" event at Central Park. The GNY Red Cross and its partners recognized seven extraordinary women who serve the country and New York City.
Red Cross preparedness volunteer Alex Poku and Pedro the Penguin taught children how to better prepare for emergencies at an impromptu event held in conjunction with Prepare the Town: Rockaways.

The US Military Academy at West Point holds a near week-long blood drive annually. This particularly blood drive holds special meaning given the close relationship the Red Cross has with service members through our SAF program.
After a fatal fire on St. Nicholas Place in Harlem, our volunteers opened a reception center and registered 70 people and 11 pets for emergency assistance.

What a night of inspiration at the annual Red Cross Heroes Gala. 2024 Local Hero, Juan Dilone and his daughter are each congratulated by the previous award winner Fritz Sam and Metro New York North Red Cross Board Members.
After 26 years of being prevented from donating blood as a gay man, Craig Burdett rolled up a sleeve to give once again, alongside his husband and Red Crosser Jose Dominguez.
For the New York City Sound event, volunteers like Hannah (left) and Kehui (right) installed free smoke alarms and provided fire safety education to the residents of Woodside, Queens and other nearby neighborhoods.

The Long Island Red Cross stood alongside partners during a special press conference in Long Beach, NY, to highlight the need for the community to prepare for the hurricane season.
Every summer in Greenwich, Conn., dozens of children take part in Safety Town, a comprehensive one-week safety education program. Under the guidance of Red Cross and partners, children learn in an indoor classroom setting.
The Mount Vernon Office of Emergency Management and Fire Department, in partnership with the American Red Cross Greater New York, collaborated to support a Senior Preparedness Seminar at the Mount Vernon Social Adult Day Care Center.
