I'm proud to run with Team Red Cross because...
My decision to join Team Red Cross and run the New York Marathon was deeply personal. As a disaster volunteer for 13 years, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible work the Red Cross does. I have responded to help people impacted by house fires, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, derechos and wildfires not only in my own backyard, but nationwide – Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, California, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana. I’ve seen how support from the Red Cross made a huge difference to people when they need it most. Service is an integral part of my family life as my 3 children are also Red Cross volunteers. My oldest son joined the Army National Guard and has been recently deployed oversees. Learning about the important services the Red Cross provides to the military community, I felt compelled to give back and make a tangible impact, so running this marathon for such a vital organization seemed like the perfect way to combine my passion for running with a cause that truly matters.
I’m most passionate about the Red Cross’s commitment to disaster relief and recovery. Their ability to mobilize quickly and provide immediate assistance to those in need, whether it’s shelter, food, emergency supplies and emotional support, is nothing short of inspiring. The idea that no matter where or when a disaster strikes, the Red Cross is there to offer support and hope gives me immense pride and motivation. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of community.
I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received so far and for the opportunity to run on behalf of the Red Cross. Your contributions directly help Red Cross volunteers like me continue vital work in disaster response and recovery. Together, we can make a real difference in people’s lives. Thank you for joining me on this journey and for your generous support. Let’s cross the finish line together!
Training for Team Red Cross…
Training for the marathon has been a journey of both physical and mental endurance. The most difficult challenge has been balancing my training schedule with everyday life, particularly finding time for long runs amidst being a mom, work and being a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer. However, my son has been my biggest motivator. He is overseas serving our country and if he can do something brave and challenging, so can I. This sense of purpose and knowing I’m running to raise money for the Red Cross, has made every early morning run and long distance worthwhile.
