The American Red Cross today recognized Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, with U.S. headquarters in New York, NY, for its support of Red Cross Disaster Relief through the Disaster Responder Program with an annual pledge of $250,000.
Disaster Responder members pledge donations year-round, in advance of major disasters, to ensure the Red Cross can respond immediately with comfort and care whenever and wherever disasters occur, help families during the recovery process, and ensure communities become better prepared for the next disaster.
“Ongoing financial support from members of the Disaster Responder Program helps create a reliable funding base for disaster relief services, providing food, shelter, emotional support and other essential assistance,” said Don Herring, Red Cross chief development officer. “Money donated by the public and members of our Disaster Responder Program is essential to our ability to assist disaster survivors and support the first responders and volunteers who work tirelessly at the scene of a disaster.”
“In these times of recurring, unprecedented disasters, building resilient communities requires us to be prepared, have access to physical and digital resources and empower local leaders to take action. We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the Red Cross, and are proud to offer our consulting and technology capabilities to support their efforts,” said Balaji Ganapathy, Head of Workforce Effectiveness, TCS.
Each year, the Red Cross responds to more than 62,000 disasters across the United States, including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, and wildfires. Constituting nearly 90 percent of the humanitarian workforce of the Red Cross, our volunteers respond to disasters nearly 170 times a day nationwide. Red Cross services are provided to people in need of assistance at no cost and regardless of income through the generosity of Red Cross donors.
