Dayton, OH - The Dayton Power and Light Foundation has made a substantial donation to the American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign. The generous gift of $50,000 dollars will support the year-round efforts of the Central and Southern Ohio Region to reduce home fire deaths and injuries through a multifaceted approach.
“Safety First is the number one value at Dayton Power & Light and supporting the Red Cross through the DP&L Foundation to help keep our community safe aligns perfectly,” expressed Holly Wiggins, Director Community and Corporate Social Responsibility. “The Red Cross works to keep people safe from disaster by providing preparedness education and disaster response assistance when they need it the most. The DP&L Foundation Board is proud to award the Red Cross with another Power Grant to continue making the Miami Valley safer.”
Launched in 2014, the Home Fire Campaign has been credited with saving at least 820 lives around the country and making almost 900,000 homes safer. Financial support of the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign is used to prepare for, respond to, and recover from home fires.
“We are honored to have Dayton Power and Light as one of our truly committed corporate partners,” said Stephanie Byrd, Regional Executive Officer for the Central and Southern Ohio Region. “The very generous contribution that DP&L Foundation has made to our Home Fire Campaign speaks to their commitment to a safe Dayton community and their tremendous support of the Red Cross mission.”
Home fires are so common, and dangerous that they claim more lives in a typical year than all natural disasters combined.
