CINCINNATI, March 11, 2024 — The Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter of the American Red Cross and Presenting Sponsor Health Carousel are proud to announce that Leigh Fox has been named the recipient of the prestigious Clara Barton Award for Humanitarian Service. The award will be presented at a special breakfast event held March 14, 2024, at9:00 a.m.at Cincinnati’s Music Hall. The award presentation can also be viewed virtually here.
The Clara Barton Award is named after the remarkable founder and first leader of the American Red Cross and is given annually by the Cincinnati chapter to an individual, group of individuals, or corporation which exemplifies Clara’s humanitarian spirit.
Mr. Fox has been selected as this year’s recipient because of his leadership and meaningful advocacy for our community. His dedication to the Tri-State is evident through his various commitments to a vast array of organizations, institutions and causes which positively impact this place we call home. Those commitments have included, but are not limited to, the UC Foundation; the UC Lindner School of Business Executive Cabinet; Arts Wave; the Anthony Munoz Foundation; the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce; and the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Fox was instrumental in establishing a partnership between the Red Cross and altafiber to expand the reach of the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign. Through this campaign, the Red Cross installs free smoke alarms in homes throughout the community. Fox spearheaded the idea of having company technicians do the free smoke alarm installations while they were out on service calls. “This is just one example of Leigh’s hands-on approach to his humanitarian service; he supplies the vision and then follows through with action” said Stephanie Byrd, Regional Chief Executive Officer of the Central & Southern Ohio Region of the American Red Cross. “I’m grateful for his commitment to the Red Cross mission and for his energetic enthusiasm to improving the Greater Cincinnati area.”
Based on Clara Barton’s inspiring legacy to the nation, this award focuses on service to humanity, as reflected in the services provided daily by the devoted volunteers of the American Red Cross. The award is made possible through the generosity of our “Humanity” sponsor Duke Energy, and the Presenting Sponsor Health Carousel.
Health Carousel would like to congratulate Leigh Fox on his incredible impact improving lives in our communities and beyond. He truly embodies the humanitarian spirit of the award’s namesake, Clara Barton” said Health Carousel COO Erik Schumann.
The Clara Baron Award for Humanitarian Service event gives the Red Cross an opportunity to recognize community leaders for their service, as well as highlight the work of the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter. The funds generated serve as an important source of revenue in supporting the life-saving Red Cross programs in Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Brown, Clermont, Dearborn, Ohio, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, and Grant counties.
