In 2020, Oregon experienced one of the most devastating wildfire seasons on record. Starting Sept. 7, unusually high winds blew through the state, fanning the flames of existing wildfires and starting dozens of new ones. These widespread fires forced thousands of Oregonians to flee their homes, looking for a place to go.
The American Red Cross was there.
Immediately, Red Cross Cascades Region volunteers got to work delivering food, shelter, relief supplies and comfort to those in need. In all, the Red Cross provided support to individuals and families most impacted by the fire for 115 consecutive days.
Our work could not be done without the generosity of our donors and partners. Upon seeing the destruction and impact on their fellow friends and neighbors, community partners of the Red Cross across the state stepped up to help make sure we could carry out our mission of helping to prevent and alleviate human suffering.
Because of the generosity of this community, the Red Cross Cascades Region will be able to continue preparing for, responding to and helping people recover from these tragic disasters. Thank you for standing with us!
