When first responders compete to recruit blood donors, everyone wins! The American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Region is partnering with five Montgomery County police and fire departments to hold the inaugural Borough of Hatboro Battle of the Badges blood drive on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The drive runs from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at Pennypack Community Center, 130 Spring Ave. in Hatboro.

Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition that helps the Red Cross meet patient and hospital demand for blood. Participating agencies include Hatboro Police Department, Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro, Second Alarmers Association and Rescue Squad of Montgomery County, Upper Moreland Police Department and Upper Moreland Fire Department. When donors arrive at the blood drive, they will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their agency of choice. The winner gets bragging rights and a plaque.
