Deborah Finlayson joined the Red Cross in July 2018 as the executive director for the American Red Cross Serving Texas South Plains. Based in Lubbock, Texas, Finlayson will oversee Red Cross programs and services for nearly 420,000 people in 15 counties.
Prior to joining the Red Cross, Finlayson worked for the YWCA of Lubbock and spent 24 years at Texas Tech University System where she garnered experience in volunteer growth, fundraising and board and community relations. Through her volunteerism, she oversaw the fundraising for and construction of a $2 million project for the Delta Gamma sorority on the Texas Tech campus. Finlayson is a member and past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Finlayson was active with the Junior League of Lubbock, serving on the board of directors for several years and then as president in 2006, where she oversaw the launch of the Food to Kids program.
Finlayson has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Texas Tech University. She enjoys singing with the First United Methodist Church choir, having been part of this wonderful choir for more than 30 years.
