The American Red California Gold Country Region provides 24-hour emergency assistance to people affected by fires, floods and other disasters.
If you or someone you know has recently experienced a disaster, contact us at 916-993-7070.
Red Cross volunteers across the country respond to disasters – most often a house or apartment fire – every 8 minutes. Our volunteers are on call 24 hours a day to assist individuals and families who have lost their homes to house fire, flood, or other devastation.
They come to us, often with only the clothes on their backs, seeking care, comfort and access to available resources. Our Disaster Action Teams (DAT), made up entirely of trained volunteers, provide comfort kits for personal hygiene, emergency shelter, food, clothing, and appropriate financial assistance. We also link parents and children to housing resources, social services, and mental health services to assist with the devastating loss of their homes, belongings, pets, property or loved ones. In essence, the Red Cross helps them to begin anew.
All disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from people in our community.
