In a powerful show of community support, the San Diego Convention Center illuminated its iconic Pavilion Sails red in honor of Red Cross Month, recognizing the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross and the volunteers, donors and supporters who make it all possible. The Pavilion Sails lit up the San Diego sky as a symbol of compassion, resilience and service, celebrating the enduring commitment of the Red Cross to helping people prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies every day.
The Red Cross mission has been part of the country for more than half of its 250‑year history. Red Cross Month began as a national call to action during WWII for individuals to address growing humanitarian needs. Now, it’s a community tradition honoring neighbors who deliver support when help can’t wait.
During Red Cross Month in March, we honor how Red Cross volunteers, blood donors and supporters deliver compassionate care, ensuring no one faces a disaster alone. Whether it’s a wildfire or a home fire, a call for blood, or a call from a service member or military family in need, the Red Cross is there.
Every contribution matters, and Red Cross Month is a great time to get involved. Visit redcross.org to volunteer, give blood, make a financial donation, or learn lifesaving skills. Together we can make a difference during Red Cross Month, and all year round.
