Annual Drive for Pride Golf Tournament & Silent Auction Raises Nearly $115,000 for the American Red Cross
The western division of the Circle K convenience store chain recently donated nearly $115,000 in proceeds raised during their Drive for Pride Golf Tournament and silent auction to the American Red Cross Southern California Region, serving San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial Counties.
Circle K has long supported the work of non-profit organizations in the communities they serve, and created programs that benefit disaster relief and other lifesaving services. This year, Circle K’s 9th Annual Drive for Pride Golf Tournament and silent auction returned with donations going to help foster stronger communities through preparedness initiatives, disaster response, recovery efforts and more.
“The partnership between Circle K West and the Red Cross has benefitted our community for 10 years, and this year’s event represented hope and resilience,” said Lois Beckman, Executive Director of the American Red Cross serving Riverside County. “Circle K’s ongoing support funds local Red Cross services and allows us to prepare for and respond to disasters and to be there for families when they need us most.”
A new technology offering this year included an online silent auction which provided vendors and sponsors with the opportunity to place bids on a wide variety of exciting packages and over 30 auction items from the convenience of their smart phone. Orange County Board Member Dr. Sasha Shuman helped secure a number of these auction items including signed sports memorabilia and private golf lessons. One popular auction item was a dinner with Circle K's George Wilkins, Vice President of Operations, and Margaret Kronick, Director of Marketing. Overall, the silent auction raised almost $15,000 including raffle ticket sales. The following day, sponsors and vendors had the opportunity to participate in Circle K’s Drive for Pride Golf Tournament at the picturesque Pelican Hill Golf Club to support the philanthropic event.
The Red Cross is thankful to Circle K West, their vendors and sponsors for their ongoing commitment and contributions to help build safer, stronger communities.
