SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, July 18, 2025 – The American Red Cross and 95.5 KLOS are joining together to rock Southern California’s airwaves and help patients in need of blood transfusions with the 44th Annual 95.5 KLOS Blood Drive. The 95.5 KLOS community is invited to roll up a sleeve on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 at 32 blood donation locations throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties.
"Every year, 95.5 KLOS listeners rally to the drumbeat—donating blood and saving lives with heart and soul. It’s a tradition of compassion, courage, and community spirit that shines especially bright during the summer, when the need for blood is at its highest," said Eric Horton, regional donor services executive with the American Red Cross Los Angeles region. "The Red Cross and those in need count on everyday heroes - like you - to step up and make a life-changing impact."
Score a Commemorative 95.5 KLOS T-Shirt and More
As a thank-you, all presenting donors will receive a limited-edition, commemorative 44th Annual KLOS T-shirt and a voucher redeemable for a free chicken taco courtesy of Wahoo’s Fish Taco, while supplies last. Donors who come to give Aug. 1-28 will also get a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice. Plus, the Red Cross will perform free A1C testing, commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes, on successful donations in August (one result per donor in a 12-month period). See rcblood.org/Test for details.
Helping Saving lives for 44 years
Volunteer blood donors have helped make this annual summer event a great success since 1981. With the help of thousands of Southern California blood donors, the 95.5 KLOS Blood Drive has collected nearly 200,000 units of blood products over the last four decades to help hospital patients of all ages. Accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, mothers experiencing difficulty during childbirth and those battling cancer are a few examples of hospital patients that depend on the generosity of blood donors to receive blood products.
“It’s one of our favorite times of the year. All of us at KLOS are honored to be partnering with the Red Cross for the 44th straight year, as we work with listeners across Southern California to roll-up their sleeves and save lives,” said Keith Cunningham, VP of Programming, Research, Analytics & Measurement. “We know the Red Cross needs help — it’s an urgent, very important time — and we know KLOS listeners will step-up in a big way to help their fellow Angelenos.”
Donation appointments can be made by downloading the free Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device and using sponsor code: KLOS. Appointments are recommended.

About blood donation
To donate blood, individuals need to bring a blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification that are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also must meet certain height and weight requirements.
Blood and platelet donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.
