Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. The American Red Cross supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood, and we depend on the generosity of volunteer blood donors to help save lives.
To meet the needs of hospital patients across the country, the Red Cross must collect blood every day at blood drives held throughout the community. Patients receiving blood transfusions include accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for cancer, or sickle cell disease.
Those rolling up a sleeve can feel good knowing that by donating through the Red Cross, they may be offering hope and healing to patients not only in their community, but also across the nation.
Blood cannot be manufactured; only donated by generous individuals. To thank these individuals for donating their time and sharing their good health, Papa Johns is offering a tasty treat to blood donors in San Diego County. Through July 31, 2025, you can come give blood with the Red Cross at select San Diego County blood drives and get a voucher for a free carryout 1-topping, medium pizza, courtesy of Papa Johns, while supplies last. Visit rcblood.org/appt to find a blood drive near you.
The Red Cross is thankful for partners like Papa Johns who are striving to make a difference and helping to remind blood donors of the critical importance of their blood donation.
In San Diego and beyond, the need for blood is constant. Eligible individuals are encouraged to schedule a blood or platelet donation appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor app, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
