As part of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region, the Southern Maryland Chapter provides life-saving services in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties that include emergency disaster relief to local families and emotional and financial support to military families.
For more than a century, the American Red Cross has worked to help people prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. Each and every day the Red Cross helps communities by providing disaster response (most often for home fires), support for military members and their families, life-saving trainings courses, the collection and distribution of much needed blood and blood products, support for international issue, meaningful volunteer opportunities, and so much more.

Keith Andrew Perry serves as the Executive Director for Southern Maryland at the American Red Cross. In this role he has the unique opportunity to continue his lifelong commitment to serving others. Perry is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as the 53rd Student Government President and the Howard University School of Law, where he served as First Year Class President. Following law school, Perry served as a bill drafter in the Maryland General Assembly and Legislative Counsel at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. He also was elected to the D.C. Democratic State Committee and was appointed to the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. In 1989 he was named Treasurer of the Sharon Pratt Dixon for Mayor Campaign and following Mayor Pratt’s victory, he was appointed Special Assistant to the Director of the D.C. Department of Human Rights and Minority Business Development and later as Administrator for Community Services for the DC Department of Recreation and Parks.
Perry has served in senior leadership roles for numerous nonprofit organizations both local and national in scope as well as Chief of Staff to members of the DC City Council. Most recently he served as the 6th Executive Director of the National Dental Association (NDA), the largest and oldest organization of minority oral health professionals in the world, representing more than 7,000 minority dentists nationally and abroad. He has also been Executive Director of the National Bar Association, a writer, consultant and an Adjunct Professor of Ethics and Civic Engagement at the University of the District of Columbia. An active member of his community, Keith is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc and many other civic organizations.
