WHAT:
The American Red Cross will open a temporary blood donation site in Glen Burnie on Sept. 9, providing local residents with a dedicated community location to give blood and platelets while the donation center at the Empire Towers building remains temporarily closed.

Thanks to a partnership with the Glen Burnie Improvement Association, the new site will help ensure Glen Burnie-area donors continue to have a convenient opportunity to give blood and platelets to help patients who rely on lifesaving transfusions every day.

• Sunday: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Monday: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
• Tuesday: Closed
• Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
• Thursday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Friday: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Saturday: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

BACKGROUND:
A new, temporary Red Cross donation site at the Glen Burnie Improvement Association building will provide Glen Burnie-area donors with a local option to continue giving blood and platelets while the blood donation center at the Empire Towers building remains temporarily closed.

The Red Cross is grateful to the Glen Burnie Improvement Association for providing space and support during this transition. The new, temporary location is just a few minutes (roughly one mile) from the Ritchie Highway location, making it easy for donors to continue donating with minimal disruption.

Blood and platelet donations collected at the site will help support patients undergoing cancer treatment, surgery, trauma care and treatment for blood disorders such as sickle cell disease.
