FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wilmington, DE, Oct. 12, 2026 -- The Red Cross of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region is proud to welcome Asi Ofosu as the new Executive Director for the Red Cross of Delmarva.
“With her background in public service, leadership and community advocacy, Asi brings a wealth of skills and experience to our Delmarva team,” said Dale Kunce, CEO for the Red Cross of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region. “I have no doubt she’ll continue to make an impact and build relationships in her new role at the Red Cross, and we are excited to have her.”
A longtime Delawarean, Ofosu has more than 25 years of experience in public service. Most recently, she served as a consultant and leadership coach, advising nonprofit and public-sector organizations on leadership development, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and community relationships.
Previously, she served as State Director for former U.S. Senator Tom Carper, where she led statewide operations, working closely with elected officials, community leaders, businesses, government agencies and constituents throughout Delaware. Ofosu has also held several leadership roles in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she worked on public policy issues, helped develop and advance legislation and launched congressional caucuses focused on issues affecting communities across the country.
As the executive director of the Red Cross of Delmarva, Ofosu will work closely with the chapter’s all-volunteer board of directors – focusing on volunteer engagement, biomedical collections, community partnerships and raising the donor dollars necessary to fuel the lifesaving work of the American Red Cross.
With offices in Wilmington, Delaware and Salisbury, Maryland, the Red Cross of Delmarva spans three states, providing lifesaving services to residents of Delaware; Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester Counties in Maryland; and Accomack and Northampton Counties in Virginia.
In addition to teaching skills - like CPR – that save lives, supporting the U.S. military community and collecting lifesaving blood, the Delmarva Chapter of the Red Cross works 24/7/365 to ensure those with disaster-caused needs have access to critical support and essential resources. Last year, the Red Cross assisted more than 1,000 individuals in 370 Delmarva households who were impacted by home fires and other disasters, and held close to 500 blood drives across the peninsula.
The National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region — comprised of the District of Columbia Chapter, the Northern Virginia Chapter, the Montgomery, Howard & Frederick Counties Chapter, the Central Maryland Chapter, the Southern Maryland Chapter, and the Delmarva Chapter — is powered by volunteers, a workforce of more than 10,000 compassionate individuals who carry out the Red Cross mission in the DMV and Delmarva.
