Holiday cheer was in the air as Red Cross volunteers and employees of Arthrex, Inc. gathered at Arthrex’s headquarters in Naples, Fla., for the annual Holiday for Heroes event. Boxes of donated items such as toiletries, candy, snacks, card games and homemade holiday cards lined tables where the volunteers passed and stuffed handmade holiday stockings. At the end of the evening, more than 1,000 holiday stockings were assembled for troops!
These stockings will be mailed by Arthrex to soldiers who are serving overseas during the holidays.
“Thanks to the amazing work of our friends at Arthrex and our Red Cross volunteers and staff, we’re able to send a record-breaking number of holiday stockings to our troops,” said Jill Palmer, executive director of Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter. “Holiday for Heroes was a success and I’m grateful for our community to come together and do something special for our service members and veterans.”
For the last 10 years, Southern Gulf Chapter volunteers have been leading the efforts for this campaign. Learn more about how this event got started.
Holiday for Heroes is an annual campaign by the American Red Cross which gives the community the opportunity to thank and recognize military members during the holidays. This year, Florida’s Southern Gulf Chapter partnered once again with Arthrex, Inc., a global medical device company, to assist in assembling and delivering these stuffed holiday stockings.
