Fort Lauderdale, Fla., March 10, 2025 – The Broward County Chapter of the American Red Cross is proud to welcome Teresa Fox and Tommy Demopoulos to its Board of Directors, a team made up of local business and civic leaders who give of their time, expertise and compassion in support of Red Cross humanitarian services.
“We are delighted to have Teresa and Tommy join our Board of Directors,” said Executive Director of the American Red Cross Broward County Chapter Paula Prendergast. “They each embody a passion for the Red Cross mission and are exemplary leaders in our community.”
Down the street, across the country and around the world, the Red Cross helps residents prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies and disasters large and small. The organization serves the residents of Broward County through the power of its workforce and the generosity of the American public.
Teresa Fox
Teresa Fox is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a passion for community service and a proven track record of leadership. As a Luxury Travel Advisor with Fora Travel and the Fora Chapter Lead for South Florida, Teresa brings a global perspective and a commitment to building meaningful connections within the local community and with partners.
From her business experience, Teresa possesses a unique skill set that allows her to drive engagement, foster collaboration and achieve impactful results. Her previous roles include Territory Enrollment Manager for Aflac, Regional Enrollment Leader for Guardian Life and leadership positions at Assurant Employee Benefits and Northwestern Mutual. In these roles, she consistently implemented strategies that led to increased participation and improved customer satisfaction.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Teresa is deeply committed to giving back. She was a Founding Committee Member of The Suite Dreams Project and Committee Chair for the Junior League of New York, demonstrating her passion for supporting charitable initiatives. Teresa's commitment to community extends to her role as Fora Chapter Lead, where she fosters connections among local advisors and develops relationships with global travel partners. This reflects her ability to nurture relationships and create a strong network, a valuable asset for the American Red Cross.
Teresa and her husband, Dr Martin Fox have been residents of Fort Lauderdale since 2019 and
are proud to call it home. She is eager to contribute her leadership skills, strategic thinking and passion for service to support the organization's mission of alleviating human suffering.
Expect Teresa to bring her energy, experience, and dedication to the American Red Cross of Broward County, making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Tommy Demopoulos
Tommy Demopoulos is currently serving as Division Chief/Fire Marshal for Tamarac Fire Rescue’s Community Risk Reduction Division, a Class 1 Accredited Agency. He has been with the City of Tamarac since 2012 and has worked as a fire inspector, fire plans examiner and assistant fire marshal. He started his fire service career with the Plantation Fire Department in 2007 as a volunteer firefighter and worked his way through the ranks to be a fire suppression Captain.
Fire Marshal Demopoulos earned a Bachelors in Public Safety Administration from St. Petersburg College and a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management Services at Columbia Southern University. He holds a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Certified Fire Inspector (CFI) and a Certified Fire Plans Examiner (CFPE) through NFPA as well as a Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification through National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI). Tommy also holds a State of Florida Fire Officer IV, Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector III, Fire Code Administrator, Live Fire Training Instructor, Instructor III and is a designated Chief Fire Officer (CFO) and Fire Marshal (FM) through the Center of Public Safety Excellence.
Tommy was involved locally in Broward County on multiple sub-committees such as the fire watch guidelines, food trucks, hood cleaning certifications and residential board and care generator requirements. He served as a subject matter expert for NFPA on the certified fire plans examiner certification advisory group, is on the technical committee for NFPA 915 for Remote Inspections, sits on the Broward County School Board’s Bond Oversight Committee and was on the NFPA 96 Task Group for Mobile Cooking Operations. Tommy is the Past President for the Fire Inspectors Association of Broward County, where he was awarded the Fire Inspector of the Year in 2014 and Fire Marshal of the Year in 2022 and the 1st Vice President for the Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association, where he was awarded Fire Inspector of the Year in 2019. In 2021, he was selected as the American Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year.
“It is an honor to give back to the organization that does so much for Broward County and Tamarac residents, specifically. The Red Cross has so many great volunteers that it is contagious to want to do more when around them,” said Tommy.
