FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 18, 2018) – The Broward County Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a multi-unit fire in the afternoon on Madison Street in Hollywood, Fla.
The Red Cross Disaster Action Team was on scene to help coordinate emergency aid for the affected families. Seven families were affected by the blaze, consisting of 14 adults and three children. The Red Cross provided comfort kits and client assistance cards to the affected families.
Red Cross volunteers on the scene were members of the chapter’s Disaster Action Team, a group of specially trained volunteers who respond to the scene of a local disaster when called upon at any time – day or night. Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by donations to the Red Cross.
