Multiple wildfires are burning across Montana and Idaho, and Red Cross responders are providing comfort and care to those forced from their homes. Our volunteers are on the ground in several communities, speaking with families, offering emotional support and helping meet their most immediate needs.

MONTANA

Bobcat fire, Mussellshell County

In Montana, the Bobcat fire has burned more than 30,000 acres in Musselshell County and led to multiple evacuations in the Roundup area in the southeast part of the state. Red Cross has placed several families evacuated by the fire in hotels in Billings and Roundup and is providing them with warm meals, access to community resources and emotional support.

Montana Red Cross also has a temporary evacuation center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1140 5th St. W. in Roundup, where volunteers are offering water, snacks, updated information and a friendly ear to those who visit.

Bridger Foothills fire, Gallatin County

In Gallatin County, the Bridger Foothills fire has burned more than 7,100 acres and forced the evacuation of at least 200 people living northeast of Bozeman. Red Cross is providing lodging to these families in Bozeman hotels, putting up 13 people Tuesday night.

A Red Cross temporary emergency center at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 4383 Durston Road in Bozeman provides families with water, snacks and updated information. Red Cross volunteers are also helping clients replace medications and medical equipment like walkers and eye glasses and are connecting them with mental health services.

The Red Cross also took part in the Neighbors in Need: Relief, Recovery and Support Day at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds. The event was a one-stop location where people impacted by the fire could meet with organizations ready to help with their recovery.

IDAHO

Clover fire, Clearwater County

In Idaho, the Clover fire raging outside of Orofino, on the Nez Perce Reservation, has burned more than 1,600 acres, destroyed structures and led to evacuations. In response, the Red Cross is housing families at a hotel in Lewiston and providing them with food, access to health services and other support.

A Red Cross emergency response vehicle with additional volunteer responders arrived in Orofino on Wednesday and is helping assess community needs.

Woodhead Fire, Washington County

The Woodhead fire, burning northwest of Cambridge and east of Brownlee Summit, in Washington County has scorched at least 15,000 acres.

The nearby communities of Seid Creek, Pine Creek Estates, Advent Gulch, Rush Creek, West Pine Road and Mill Creek Road areas have all been asked to leave. Additional evacuations were ordered for the Cemetery Road, Cow Creek, and Goodrich areas.

The Red Cross is putting up families in hotels and is providing meals, access to health and mental health services and connecting them with community resources.
