When disaster strikes, relief can’t wait. Families need shelter, food, water, first aid and emotional support. They need the American Red Cross. Everyday in Central California, your local Red Cross is responding to help a family affected by disaster. In less than two minutes, a house fire can engulf a home leaving a family with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.
It takes the whole community to get these local families back on their feet after a disaster, and the Red Cross wants to continue to work to make that happen quickly. With generous and thoughtful support, we are there – neighbors helping neighbors.
This fall, we will set up a series of mock shelters and celebrate the Shelter of Hope that the Red Cross provides in times of disaster. These shelters will open throughout the region, demonstrating that the Red Cross is there whenever needed and sharing our story as a reminder that the Red Cross is there for everyone, every day, everywhere.
We have selected key locations and are planning fun events planned for our Shelter of Hope events in Bakersfield, Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura. STAY TUNED! We will soon post a calendar events by city.

We depend on the donations we receive to support the many citizens we help every day, and that is why we are asking you to help us in providing a Shelter of Hope to our neighbors in crisis. The Red Cross is only able to help those in times of disaster thanks to the generosity of our donors.
FAST FACT.
It costs an average of $550 to help one family of three recover from a disaster. Your generosity will provide care and compassion to families in need throughout our region.
