This year, Don Francisco’s Coffee, a top-selling California retail brand roasted and owned by F. Gaviña & Sons, Inc. celebrated “National Coffee Day” by giving back to those in need. As part of a special “National Coffee Day” partnership with the American Red Cross, Don Francisco’s Coffee stepped up and motivated people to give back in one of the simplest ways possible— by drinking coffee.
On September 29, which was “National Coffee Day,” the company kicked off a week-long fundraising effort in support of Red Cross disaster relief efforts to help those impacted by recent back-to-back-to-back hurricanes— Harvey, Irma and Maria.
With this, coffee lovers were able to show their support in many ways. They could buy Don Francisco’s Coffee online at the company’s website, where $1 of every Don Francisco's Coffee purchase went directly to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Or, they could enjoy Don Francisco’s Coffee at the company’s newly opened flagship café, Don Francisco’s Coffee Casa Cubana, located in Downtown Los Angeles. There, $1 of every cup of Don Francisco’s brewed coffee sold also went to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Coffee fans from across the Los Angeles Region joined the fun and showed support in-person at Don Fransisco’s Coffee Casa Cubana, and on social media, sharing photos of deliciously brewed coffee with the hashtag, #NationalCoffeeDay.
On why the company chose to give back to the Red Cross, Leonor Gaviña-Valls, third generation coffee roaster and VP of Marketing, F. Gaviña & Sons stated, “As immigrants, we can easily empathize with the hardships that come with displacement - family and coffee are universal, we proudly represent both, and this is our chance to step up and do our part - families helping families.”
Don Francisco’s Coffee Casa Cubana is the company’s first brick and mortar location and is situated in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles at the Spring Arcade Building, at 541 S. Spring St.
