About the Exhibit:
In 2015, career photographer Mimi Teller joined the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region as a volunteer disaster responder, public affairs spokesperson and photographer.
As a disaster responder, Mimi provided immediate assistance to families displaced from their homes due to disaster. Additionally, Mimi deployed around the country following earthquakes, floods, tornados and wildfires to bring aid and share the Red Cross story through media interviews, written accounts and photographs.
Through this expansive lens, it became apparent that many Red Cross services were less familiar to the general public and often fellow volunteers.
With the goal to expand awareness, this portrait series on the Red Cross workforce highlights volunteers from the five lines of service, covering all areas of community support. Together, these disciplines allow the Red Cross to complete its far-reaching humanitarian mission to alleviate human suffering.
