SAN PEDRO (July 12, 2022) – Calling all Shark Week fin-atics: The American Red Cross and Discovery are partnering for Shark Week and invite community members to dive in and help save lives at an exciting blood donation opportunity on Monday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M White Dr., San Pedro.
“The Red Cross is teaming up with Discovery and Shark Week to help avoid frequent summer blood shortages,” said Rob Bahler, American Red Cross Los Angeles Region Blood Services District Manager. “We encourage community members to help save lives with a blood or platelet donation this month. An appointment made could mean a life saved.”
Sharks are vitally important to the health of the planet - just like blood donors play an equally important role in helping keep the national blood supply healthy and strong. The need for blood products doesn’t take a summer break.
All presenting donors at the blood drive on July 18 will receive an exclusive Red Cross Shark Week t-shirt and fin hat, as supplies last.*
Thanks to Discovery, all those who come to give blood at this blood drive and all those who come to give blood, platelets or plasma at any Red Cross blood drive or donation center from July 1-31, 2022, will also be automatically entered for a chance to win an exclusive Shark Week merchandise package. This package includes a beach cruiser bike, smokeless portable fire pit, paddle board, kayak and a $500 gift card to put toward accessories for tons of outdoor adventure.**
“Don't let the blood supply take a dip this summer! Whether it’s watching our finned friends on an episode of Shark Week or donating blood at your nearest blood drive or donation center, there are many ways to get your heart pumping this summer,” said Bahler. “Together, we’ll keep the blood supply steady for patients this summer and beyond.”
