Seth is a 5-time leukemia survivor and just celebrated 3 years of remission
MOUNT WASHINGTON, KENTUCKY, March 20, 2025 - Seth Walsh is a fighter. At 11 years old, he has had over 225 blood transfusions. Seth was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December of 2018. The Mount Washington community has rallied around the Walsh family to offer comfort, support, and financial donations towards his treatment.
On Tuesday, March 25, 2024, the 5th annual “Rise of The Donor” blood drive in honor of Seth will take place at Calvary Christian Center, Mt. Washington. The hours will be from 11am-6pm and the Walsh family hopes to have more than 100 blood donors attend. The last four blood drives have seen wonderful success, with local doctors, firefighters, and officials taking time to roll up a sleeve.
Seth has celebrated 3 years of remission and is thriving. He is a member of the Bellarmine Men’s Basketball team through “Team Impact”- a national non-profit organization that matches children facing serious illnesses with college athletic teams. Seth was baptized in December and celebrated with his friends and family. The Make A Wish Foundation granted his wish to have a backyard swimming pool. He loves Star Wars characters, watching WWE, playing basketball and video games, and spending time with his Bernedoodle, Dr. Pepper.
The Walsh family encourages all community members to donate blood and give back to kids like Seth. You can make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS, downloading the Blood Donor App, or going to redcrossblood.org and entering keyword: sethssquad.
