MINEOLA, N.Y. – The American Red Cross on Long Island is proud to announce that Jennifer (Jen) Hayen, a senior communications executive and award‑winning leader, has officially joined the Long Island Chapter Board of Directors.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jen to our Board of Directors,” said José Dominguez, CEO, American Red Cross on Long Island. “With her exceptional background in strategic communications, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement, Jen brings deep expertise that will strengthen our ability to serve Long Islanders in their greatest moments of need.”

ABOUT JEN HAYEN
Jen Hayen is a senior communications executive with extensive leadership experience across government, public power, and large‑scale utilities. Most recently, she served as Director of Communications for the Long Island Power Authority, advising the CEO, leading executive and crisis communications, and serving as the organization’s primary spokesperson. In this role, she oversaw multimillion‑dollar communications and marketing operations and helped drive the highest positive media sentiment in company history.
Jen previously served in the New York State Senate, including as Director of Communications for the 4th Senate District and earlier roles supporting the Senate Majority. She also served as Communications Advisor to the Large Public Power Council as well as chaired its national Communications Executives Working Group.
She is the recipient of numerous professional honors, including the American Public Power Association’s Excellence in Public Power Communications awards, Long Island Business News “40 Under 40,” Schneps Media Power Women of Long Island, and Premier Business Woman of Long Island awards. She holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
