SANDY, Utah (Feb. 12, 2026) — The American Red Cross of Utah and the Real Salt Lake Soccer club are teaming up to host a blood drive on February 16 in the Columbia Executive Club at America First Field in Sandy from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those participating in this blood drive will receive free Royals tickets and discounted RSL tickets while contributing to the local blood supply during a critical time for collections.
“We’re grateful for our community partnership with Real Salt Lake and the opportunity this blood drive provides to help patients in need,” said Jeremiah Lafranca, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Greater Salt Lake Chapter. “February is a critical time for blood donations, and this drive helps us bounce back from seasonal shortages while ensuring hospitals have the blood products they need to save lives.
Winter Risks for the National Blood Supply
Shortfalls in blood and platelet donations caused by recent winter storms are further straining the national blood supply, leading some hospitals to postpone elective procedures due to limited blood availability. When supplies run low, doctors face the possibility that blood may not be available for trauma patients and others who depend on transfusions for lifesaving care. Maintaining adequate blood inventories remains essential to ensure hospitals can continue treating patients without delays.
