SANDY, Utah (May 13, 2025) — The American Red Cross of Utah and the Real Salt Lake Soccer club are teaming up to host a blood drive on May 19 in the Interform Club Room at America First Field in Sandy from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those participating in this blood drive have the opportunity to win exclusive Real Salt Lake merchandise in giveaways as well as contribute to the local blood supply during a critical time for collections.
“We’re excited for our community partnership with Real Salt Lake and this drive can make a large impact for those in need of blood transfusion,” said Jeremiah Lafranca, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Greater Salt Lake Chapter. “We often see an increase in the amount of blood needed during summer months, and this gives us an opportunity to get ahead of potential shortages.”
Summer Impacts on Blood Supply
The amount of blood used in hospitals increases in the summer with more people traveling, resulting in an increase in car accidents. In addition, people often participate in more intense activities during the warmer months, like hiking, camping and rock climbing, which adds additional strain on the blood supply.
Sign up for the Real Salt Lake Blood Drive

Incentives for Blood Donors
