CENTERVILLE, Utah (Dec. 5, 2023) — This Friday, Skills Fitness is infusing a fitness-focused touch to the Red Cross of Utah blood drive at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Every donor participating in the blood drive will be in the running to win a complimentary workout experience.
“We are grateful to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection for their enduring commitment to hosting blood drives,” said Michael Smauldon, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, Northern Utah & Southwest Wyoming Chapter. “We are equally thankful for the community’s support to make every blood drive successful.”
The blood drive will take place at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, located at 1131 S. Main St., Centerville, on Friday, Dec. 8, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Please use the sponsor code ECOR when scheduling your appointment.
Donate – and sweat – to help save lives
As a token of appreciation and motivation, everyone who comes to donate will be entered into a drawing. Six lucky donors will win exclusive Skills Fitness gym membership vouchers. Three winners will receive a 1-month membership voucher, while another three will land a 3-month voucher. (The American Red Cross is not administering or overseeing this promotion. Vouchers limited to Friday’s drive and donors in Centerville. Contact Skills Fitness for promotion details.)
“We're thrilled to merge the spirit of giving with the energy of fitness,” said Kenton Farris, owner of Skills Fitness. “Donating blood is a profoundly impactful act that significantly improves and helps to save countless lives. Offering gym membership vouchers is our small gesture of gratitude and we hope to inspire more people to join us in supporting Red Cross blood drives.”
Create a new holiday tradition
Like every start to winter, blood donations drop. Unfortunately, demand for blood during the holidays coincides with a lower availability of donors due to vacations and holiday activities, seasonal illnesses, school breaks and severe weather.
“With children out of school for the holiday, parents can use this opportunity to show their children about the importance of blood donation and its impact on the community,” Smauldon said. “Donating blood is a heartwarming way to celebrate the holiday season.”
Donating blood is rewarding
The Red Cross has teamed up with Prime Video in honor of their film “Candy Cane Lane,” featuring an all-star cast, including Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross, and directed by Reginald Hudlin. All who come to give blood in December will automatically be entered to win one of 12 prize packages. Each package includes a $1,000 Amazon.com Gift Card and a 65-inch Omni QLED Series Amazon Fire TV. Details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Amazon.
