ST. GEORGE, Utah (Oct. 25, 2025) — Dixie Power is continuing its tradition of making a lifesaving impact in the community by hosting its annual American Red Cross of Utah blood drives on Monday, Oct. 27, Tuesday, Oct. 28, and Wednesday, Oct. 29. Over the years, these drives have grown into a cornerstone event in St. George, helping to ensure a steady blood supply for patients in need.
Last year, Dixie Power’s three-day drive collected over 500 units of blood, making it one of the most successful Red Cross blood drives in Utah. This year, the cooperative is aiming to surpass that milestone and further its mission of giving back to the communities it serves.
“Giving back to the community is at the heart of everything we do at Dixie Power,” said Steven Young, Dixie Power Communications Specialist. “Our blood drives are a powerful way to make a difference, and we’re proud to see how our employees, members and neighbors come together to support this lifesaving cause year after year.”
A Legacy of Lifesaving Blood Drives
Over the past six years, Dixie Power has expanded its blood drives from one to three days, beginning in 2022. Last year’s drive resulted in an impressive 503 units of blood donated. Since 2019, the St. George-based electric cooperative has collected nearly 1,500 units of blood, building on the success of previous years.
“Dixie Power’s commitment to hosting these drives is truly remarkable,” said Benjamin Donner, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Central and Southern Utah Chapter. “Their efforts not only help ensure a stable blood supply but also inspire others to step up and give. We’re incredibly grateful for their partnership and the impact they’ve made in our community.”
Give Blood This Fall to Help Save Lives and Earn Rewards
As the holiday season approaches, blood donations often decline as people focus on travel, celebrations and other seasonal activities. Unfortunately, this drop in donations coincides with an increased need for blood, as motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies tend to rise during the holidays.
Donating blood is simple and impactful. To schedule an appointment, use the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcross.org/GiveBlood or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
All who donate blood or platelets between Oct. 20 and Nov. 16, 2025, will automatically be entered into the Haunted Harvest Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards. For full details, visit RedCrossBlood.org/Harvest. In addition to the sweepstakes entry, all donors will receive a $10 e-gift card as a thank-you for their lifesaving contribution. Also, each donor at the Dixie Power blood drives will receive a free 2026 Dixie Direct Savings Guide and a $5 FiiZ Drinks gift card.
