SALT LAKE CITY (Dec. 3, 2025) — Building on the spirit of generosity sparked by GivingTuesday, the American Red Cross of Utah is excited to announce that today is Matching Wednesday, a special opportunity for the community to double their impact. Thanks to the generosity of The Remillard Family Foundation, every donation made today will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $100,000.
This one-day matching campaign provides Utahns with a unique chance to amplify their support for disaster relief, lifesaving blood services and aid for military families. A $50 donation becomes $100, helping to provide critical resources like food, shelter and comfort to those in need. Donations can be made at redcross.org/Give, but this matching opportunity ends at midnight today.
“Matching Wednesday is a meaningful continuation of the GivingTuesday movement,” said Heidi Ruster, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Utah/Nevada Region. “The Remillard Family Foundation’s generosity inspires our community to come together and provide hope, comfort and critical support to families when they need it most.”
The Need for Support
This year, the Red Cross of Utah has responded to over 160 home fires, providing assistance to more than 725 people. Volunteers have installed over 2,000 free smoke alarms, shared vital home fire prevention information, supported veterans and active-duty military families and organized hundreds of blood drives. Additionally, local volunteers have deployed nationwide to deliver aid in the aftermath of devastating hurricanes, wildfires and floods.
“Today is an opportunity for the community to come together and make a lasting impact,” Ruster said. “Support provided through Matching Wednesday enables critical relief for families in crisis, the delivery of lifesaving blood to those in need and hope during life’s most challenging moments.”
