MIDVALE, Utah (Aug. 3, 2026) — Midvale City and the American Red Cross of Utah, together with community partners and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), will host a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) on Tuesday for residents displaced by the fire at the North Union Apartments in Midvale.
The resource center will bring together nonprofit organizations, community partners and public agencies in one location to help residents displaced by the fire connect with recovery services and available resources. Representatives from participating organizations will be available throughout the day to answer questions and help families understand the assistance available to them.
“Midvale City is working alongside our residents impacted by the North Union Apartment fire as they navigate the path to recovery,” said Midvale City Mayor Dustin Gettel. “We know this has been an incredibly difficult time for families who have been displaced, and we are committed to helping connect residents with the resources, support and assistance they need. We are grateful to the American Red Cross, our community partners, volunteers and everyone who has stepped up to help our neighbors during this challenging time.”

“Recovering from a disaster takes far more than a few days. Families are often left trying to replace the essentials of everyday life while figuring out what comes next,” said Jeremiah Lafranca, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Greater Salt Lake Chapter. “This resource center brings together organizations from across the community so people can find support, ask questions and begin rebuilding with the help of those ready to assist.”
Red Cross Response to the Midvale Apartment Fire
A four-alarm fire tore through the North Union Apartments in Midvale on Friday morning, forcing the evacuation of all 223 apartment units and displacing hundreds of residents. Many families remain unable to return home as officials continue assessing the damage and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Following the evacuation, the American Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at Union Middle School and worked alongside community partners to provide displaced residents with a safe place to stay, meals and other immediate assistance. Red Cross disaster workers have also provided health services, emotional support, spiritual care and financial assistance for eligible households while helping residents connect with resources for their continued recovery.
The Red Cross encourages all households affected by the fire to attend the Multi-Agency Resource Center, even if they have already received assistance, as additional resources may be available as recovery needs change.

Red Cross Volunteers Respond to Home Fires Across Utah
Red Cross volunteers respond to home fires across Utah every day, providing emergency assistance to families after disasters. Since 2020, Red Cross volunteers have responded to 1,105 home fires and helped 5,122 people. So far this year, volunteers have responded to 97 home fires and helped 472 people.
