SANDY, Utah (Dec. 20, 2025) — The American Red Cross of Utah is proud to announce a $15,000 donation from Mountain America Credit Union, made possible through its long-standing partnership with BYU Athletics. Mountain America pledged $250 for every touchdown scored by the BYU Cougars during the 2025 football season.
The Cougars delivered an exciting year for fans, finishing 11-2 and earning a berth in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Dec. 27. Thanks to their performance, Mountain America’s donation will help the Red Cross provide critical disaster relief to Utah families recovering from home fires and other emergencies.
“Mountain America Credit Union’s commitment to turning athletic success into community impact is truly inspiring,” said Benjamin Donner, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Central and Southern Utah Chapter. “This donation ensures we can continue providing immediate assistance to disaster victims and expand our lifesaving programs, such as free smoke alarm installations and fire safety education.”
Since 2018, Mountain America has contributed $168,000 to the Red Cross of Utah through its partnerships with BYU Athletics, supporting essential disaster preparedness and recovery efforts statewide.
“We’re proud to build meaningful impact through our ongoing collaboration with BYU athletics,” said Nathan Anderson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Mountain America. “This contribution to the Red Cross of Utah reflects our continued dedication to supporting organizations on the front lines of care in our communities.”
Supporting Utah Communities in Times of Crisis
The Red Cross of Utah responds to more than 150 home fires each year, providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support to families facing their most difficult moments. In addition to disaster relief, the Red Cross works with community partners to install free smoke alarms and deliver fire safety education in neighborhoods across the state. So far this year, volunteers have installed nearly 2,000 free smoke alarms in Utah homes.
